The movement matters more than brand recognition
A small brand may have no service center at all while the movement inside is one that an independent watchmaker sees regularly.
Case parts are the harder side
Crowns, crystals, bezels and proprietary bracelets may be brand-specific even when the movement is common.
Custom builds need disclosure
Hand clearance, stem length, dial feet, spacers and aftermarket components can create faults that are not inherent to the base movement.
Replacement can be excellent value
For common NH or Miyota workhorse movements, replacement can sometimes restore a heavily damaged watch more economically than extensive component-level labor.
