Not every automatic hand-winds
A classic Seiko 7S26 is automatic-winding only. Turning the crown does not wind the mainspring, and that behavior is normal.
A change in feel matters
If a watch that normally hand-winds suddenly feels rough, slips or will not turn, stop forcing it.
The crown may not be the root cause
Stem damage, keyless works and winding-train components can all create a winding complaint.
Automatic reserve problems are different
A watch may hand-wind correctly yet fail to build power through wrist motion. That points toward a different part of the system.
Start with the actual watch
Submit the brand, model or reference if known, symptoms, service history and clear photos before shipping. We use that information for a preliminary review. Final diagnosis and pricing require physical inspection.
