Do not erase history by accident
Polishing, dial refinishing and replacing original hands or crowns can permanently change a vintage watch. Cosmetic work should be discussed rather than bundled automatically.
Previous repair quality matters
Older watches often show improvised fixes, incorrect parts or damage from earlier work. The final quote may change materially once the movement is opened.
Donor parts may be necessary
Obsolete parts sometimes require a donor movement or careful sourcing. That can affect cost and timing.
Sentimental value is legitimate
A watch does not need high resale value to justify repair. Inherited and personally meaningful watches are a natural part of independent watchmaking.
Start with the actual watch
Submit the brand, model or reference if known, symptoms, service history and clear photos before shipping. We use that information for a preliminary review. Final diagnosis and pricing require physical inspection.
