Independent Seiko mail-in service

Seiko 7S26 repair.

The 7S26 is one of Seiko’s defining automatic workhorses: simple, durable and found in an enormous number of Seiko 5 and diver-style watches.

Start with photos — screen the job before shipping
Physical inspection — final scope comes from the watch
Approval first — no surprise billable repair work

A critical 7S26 distinction

A 7S26 that does not wind from the crown is not necessarily broken. The original 7S26 is an automatic-winding movement without a manual-winding mechanism. If the watch will not start or build reserve through rotor motion, that is a different diagnostic question.

Common 7S26 complaints

Stopped after sitting, starts only after vigorous motion, short power reserve, major gain/loss, inconsistent rate, noisy or ineffective automatic winding, date/day setting issues and watches that have simply never been serviced.

What we look for

We separate regulation issues from movement-condition issues. A regulator adjustment cannot correct every low-amplitude, dirty, worn or damaged movement. The actual service decision comes from inspection.

Service versus replacement

On lower-value watches, economics matter. Depending on the watch, movement condition, originality and customer goal, the right answer may be full service, targeted repair or a movement-level replacement strategy. We explain that before authorized work begins.

How the mail-in process works

Submit the watch details and photos first. If the repair appears appropriate, we provide current shipping instructions. Final scope and price follow physical inspection, and billable repair work begins only after authorization under the service terms.
